Honda’s U-Go electric scooter has been patented in India.

Every other day, a fresh story of a new name being trademarked pops in front of us, indicating that more and more two-wheeler and four-wheeler firms are visiting the Indian patent office. The most recent of these rumors to hit the internet is that Honda, a Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer, has applied for a patent on the name of their electric scooter, the U-Go. There has been no confirmation that Honda would debut this vehicle in India, but it seems that it is high time for Honda to get on the electric scooter bandwagon in the country.

Honda U-Go is an electric scooter that is now available in the Chinese market and provides acceptable features and performance. In China, the scooter is propelled by a BLDC motor that comes in two sizes: 1200 watts and 800 watts. It also has a replacement 30Ah lithium-ion battery that can go 75 kilometers on a single charge. Honda’s dual-battery pack adds an extra 130km of range. As for the peak speed of the U-Git, it is a reasonable 53kmph.

Meanwhile, the Honda U-Go is a compact electric scooter that looks similar to the Aether 450X and is aimed at urban customers searching for a short intra-city travel and minor daily commutes. The front of the e-scooter is 1790mm long and 690mm broad, and it weighs around 83 kg. The design wraps around the body, as the name implies, with simple graphics on the body panels. The apron houses the headlight cluster, which has an inverted ‘U’ shaped DRL, while the handlebar is flanked by LED turn indicators. Wraparound tail lights in a basic design with contemporary LED characteristics are installed at the back.
