A History of the Subaru Impreza from 2007 to 2022

SUBARU Impreza 2007 – 2011

At the New York Auto Show, Subaru unveiled the third-generation Impreza, which came as a surprise to everyone since it was no longer a three-box sedan. When developing the third generation of the Impreza, Subaru allocated greater resources to the design team. There was no longer any evidence of the bug-eye or the incomprehensible design language. Being a hatchback had its problems, the most notable being that it was out of character for the Impreza. The news came as quite a surprise to Subaru loyalists.

The most noticeable improvement was in the layout. The hawkeye-style headlamps and thin grille flanked by chromed trimmings up front were a big improvement over the previous model’s boring design. And yet, it seemed tamed, no longer hostile. The Mazda3-like falling contour of the C-pillar and the line of the curving upper windows can be seen from the side. A major downside, however, was the installation of standard window frames in the new doors. Subaru said that they were compelled to act in this way for reasons of public safety.

The dashboard’s rounded edges and the infotainment system’s placement atop the center stack were two of the interior’s defining features. The manual handbrake, low-range selector, and gearstick lever all found their homes on the central console, depending on the model. Hatchbacks have a distinct benefit over sedans because of their ability to have a larger trunk, which this one does thanks to a split-folding rear seat that can increase the storage space from 320 to 44.4 liters (1,257 liters).

SUBARU Impreza 2012 – 2016

With its standard all-wheel-drive system and stellar safety record, the Subaru Impreza was a credible alternative to the other compact sedans and hatchbacks in its class.
Subaru improved the Impreza’s visual appeal for 2012. The redesign aligned the Impreza’s look more closely with that of the Outback and Legacy.

Minor cosmetic changes were made to the outside, but the real work was done within. A 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine with 148 horsepower replaced the 2.5-liter 4-cylinder one used in earlier models. Even though the new engine wasn’t as powerful, it got excellent mileage.
