Chrysler only offers two vehicles at this time: the Pacifica minivan and the 300 sedan. It wasn’t hard to figure out that the 300 sedan was being referenced when the company released social media postings claiming they were releasing a special version of “the most powerful and sumptuous” automobile in Chrysler’s history.
While we’d be interested in a high-performance variant of Chrysler’s minivan, the Pacifica, our gut tells us that’s just not Chrysler’s style. The original Chrysler 300 model’s heyday was in the early 2000s. The legendary 300C with its enormous 5.7-liter HEMI V8 engine stole the show. The 300 SRT8 sedan was the most powerful member of the “300” family in the second generation, but it still paled in comparison to the 300C’s mind-blowing performance specs.
That’s why when Chrysler announced a “surprise” limited-edition vehicle, complete with a photo of the car’s wheels and brake calipers, our minds immediately went to the idea of the 300C making a comeback. Now, obviously, neither a 300 SRT nor a 300 Hellcat will do. The new 2023 Chrysler 300C, however, will be a limited edition vehicle and a fitting farewell to this muscle car.
Chrysler is ending production of the 300 sedan series after many years, and the brand plans to send the series go in style by bringing back the 300C, a high-performance variant of the series.
The Last Rally for the Chrysler 300 Will Be “Power-packed”
More than a decade has passed since the debut of the first 300 sedan. For this rusty but muscular-sounding Chrysler, the future seems bright. In 2011, when the second generation came out, it was a lot of fun. However, after 11 years, it has become obsolete. Fortunately, Chrysler is doing the right thing by discontinuing manufacture of its gas-powered 300 sedan model.
However, not before this veteran receives a fitting farewell. Chrysler just said on Facebook, “We’re Bringing The Power In 2023. Stay Tuned.” And now there’s a follow-up to the mysterious post, and it seems like some very interesting news (at least, we hope so).
One Can Think About The Alloy Wheel And The Brembo Brake System
In its latest social media post, Chrysler provides a close-up of an alloy wheel with a red “Brembo” caliper. There is an underlying sense of athleticism to the picture, that much is obvious. Get the obvious inferences out of the way first. Wheels for the new “Performance” 300 sedan probably won’t have the distinctive “SRT” badges since they have the “Chrysler” insignia.
They won’t be wearing “Hellcat” decals either. As Moparinsiders points out, the picture has a 4-piston Brembo caliper, which is often seen on 392 HEMI-equipped Dodge performance sedans. The larger six-piston engines are utilized in SRT Hellcat cars. And indeed, Chrysler is being coy with the name, which suggests the revival of the 300C sedan.
There Will Be A Comeback For The High-Powered Chrysler 300C
Despite its widespread acclaim, Chrysler decided not to bring back the high-performance 300C for a second generation. The 2005 Chrysler 300C was a one-off in the United States. It was the range-topping model of the 300 series and was powered by a 5.7 liter HEMI V8 Magnum engine, good for 350 horsepower and 375 pound-feet of torque. In context, these figures would have been astounding.
Only the 300 SRT8, with its even bigger 6.4-liter 392 HEMI V8, came close to the 300C’s performance. It generated 470 horsepower and could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in under 4 seconds. However, production of the SRT8 in the United States ceased in 2015. However, in Australia and several areas of Europe, it survived until 2021. In the second generation of the 300C, the 5.7-liter V8 from the original 300C was carried over and used for the 300S model.
However, none of these “performance” vehicles were able to match the constantly improving standards set by the Germans. This Chrysler car was not helped by the fact that it was built on an antiquated basis. By looking at the similarities between the LD platform and the Dodge Charger, we may assume that the next Chrysler performance sedan will share its engine with the Dodge.
So, expect to see the powerful 6.4-liter 392 HEMI V8 in the future 2023 Chrysler 300C. The Charger can go from 0-60 mph in under 4 seconds thanks to its 485 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque. Have you heard this before? The 300 SRT8 has the same specifications as this. Now, we anticipate that Chrysler will adopt the engine without any changes. Of course, extra oomph never hurts, right?
On the thirteenth of this month, at the 2022 North American International Auto Show, Chrysler will show what is likely to be its most powerful automobile to yet. The only guarantees about this vehicle are that it will be a limited edition model and that it will have special emblems, internal features, and exterior colors.
