Once again, the Volkswagen ID.4 is at the top.

In Norway, sales of new cars for private use have been falling for some time. A total of 12,363 people signed up in the month of August, which is almost 25% lower than the same period last year. That brings the total for the year to far to 88,115, which is a decrease of 20.5%.

Sales of plug-in electric vehicles have also been falling recently, for the eighth month in a row.

There were 10,648 new registrations for passenger plug-in electric vehicles in March, down 26% from March 2017. The market share fell to 86.1% from 87.7% a year before, which is a significant decline.

You should know that both fully electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles lose money. Without large-scale incentives this year, BEV and PHEV sales fell by about 22 and 46 percent, respectively, in the previous month.

Sales of plug-in hybrid vehicles have plummeted as government subsidies have been slashed (CO2 emission component).

It’s possible that 2022 may wind up being worse than 2021, but better times are on the horizon later this year.

Monthly Numbers:

9,247 BEVs (down 22%) with a 74.8% market share + 630 new vans 1,401 PHEVs (down 46%) with an 11.3% market share
There were a total of 10,648 (a drop of 26.9 percent and an 8.6 percent share of the market).

Models
In August, the Volkswagen ID.4 was registered more than any other model in the nation (1,483). Due to this, it virtually finished the year ahead of the Tesla Model Y.

The Skoda Enyaq iV has done quite well, selling 726 units, making it interesting that there are now two models at the top that are built on the MEB platform. Third-placed among BEVs was the Tesla Model 3. (507).

According to the YTD chart below, electric crossovers and SUVs are quite popular in Norway.
