Preliminary Information on the 2023 BMW M2 – Topfuturecars

Overview

The 2023 BMW M2 will continue the legacy of its forerunner by offering rear-wheel drive and a manual gearbox as standard equipment. While it may share certain mechanical components with the standard BMW 2-series, the latest iteration of the M2 is once again designed for optimum performance. It will feature a more striking design and a modified chassis, and its twin-turbocharged inline-six should produce more power than the 405 generated by the previous M2 Competition. The 2023 M2 will include an eight-speed automatic transmission in addition to a manual. For the rest of the scoop on this two-door sports car, what’s the deal? The only thing to do now is to wait for BMW to finally announce them.

Updates for the Year 2023

Just as the standard BMW 2-series has entered a new generation, so too has its high-performance sibling, the M2. While details on the next-generation M2 are still sketchy, we do know that it will retain the current model’s rear-wheel drive configuration and twin-turbocharged inline-six engine.

Comparison of Prices and Models M2 $60,000 (est)

BMW has not yet announced pricing for the 2023 M2, although it will likely be pricier than the base model’s $59,895 asking price from the 2021 model year. BMW has yet to announce the trim levels and feature sets for their next vehicles, but once they do, we’ll be able to provide recommendations.

Mechanical Components and Their Effects on the Whole Vehicle

Even though the next M2 will still use a twin-turbo inline-six, it is likely to be more powerful than the existing model’s 3.0-liter engine (405 hp in the Competition trim). We estimate that the new engine will produce about 400 horsepower. The new M2 will provide a choice between a six-speed manual and an eight-speed automatic transmission to power the car’s rear wheels. Naturally, as befits a M vehicle, the 2-series M Coupe features a tuned suspension and other chassis modifications that make it the fastest version of the 2-series to complete a lap of a racetrack. Unfortunately, our opportunity to test drive an M2 prototype on an Austrian racetrack was cut short by torrential downpour. We’ll add our thoughts on driving the M2 and further information on its engine and transmission when we have another opportunity to do so.
