In celebration of Lincoln’s 100th anniversary, the collectible vehicle brand was given the spotlight at the 2022 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. Lincoln, the premium brand of Ford Motor Company, revealed their new L100 Concept model just before the show. Lincoln’s vision for the future of mobility is pushed by the Lincoln Model L100 Concept, which pays respect to the 1922 Lincoln Model L, the company’s first luxury car, with an aerodynamic exterior design, cutting-edge technology, and an immersive interior.

What Lincoln Meant to Bill Ford

Bill Ford, executive chair of Ford Motor Company, stated, “Lincoln has been one of the most lasting and elegant automotive brands in the world, and in many respects, it is well positioned for a second century characterised by outstanding design, zero-emissions, and technology-led experiences.” For as long as I can remember, Lincoln has had a particular place in my heart and the hearts of my father and grandparents. Ford said that Lincoln has been successful because the company has managed to strike a good balance between being true to its roots and pushing forward with new ideas.

A Future-Oriented Lincoln
Lincoln’s current presidency is “a historic period in our history,” President Joy Falotico said. Falotico reflected on Lincoln’s history, saying, “Over the last 100 years, Lincoln has pioneered multiple innovations and pushed the boundaries of design that have come to define our brand as we know and love it today.” He went on to say, “With the Model L100 Concept, we reimagine what the Lincoln sanctuary might look like for our clients of tomorrow, moving us forward to define the next chapter in the Lincoln story.”

Exhibiting Grace, Elegance, and Speed
The Lincoln Model L100 Concept’s low, streamlined shape continues uninterrupted from the fascia up the sides, while the glass hood smoothly transitions into the windshield and glass roof. The car’s exterior and interior lights may be programmed to greet the owner upon their arrival and then follow them around the vehicle using artificial intelligence and global positioning system sensors. Edsel Ford chose the crystal greyhound hood ornament, shown under the glass hood, to represent grace, elegance, and speed in the 1920s.

Protective Sheathing for Wheels
Lincoln’s L100 concept car’s K-tail shape helps direct airflow over the car’s body. LEDs and motion sensors built into smart wheel covers provide information about speed, battery life, and pedestrian proximity. Satin digital ceramic tricoat emphasises a warm, soft white that fades into cool blue, and metallic paint and frosted acrylic replace chrome on the exterior.

Inspired by the wind
According to Kemal Curic, Lincoln’s global design director, “this approach enabled us to build a fresh experience that is unburdened by prior limits and reflects an advancement of our Quiet Flight beliefs.” A vehicle that goes so smoothly it seems to have been moulded by the wind, as if friction does not exist, is the ultimate embodiment of our Model L100 design, as Curic said.

Interior Design Concept for the Lincoln L-100
The Lincoln Model L100 Concept has rear-hinged doors that open to reveal the inside when the glass roof is raised. The Model L100 Concept’s designers aimed to create a fully immersive space by integrating features such as a digital floor, glass ceiling, and ambient lighting. Amethyst accents of recycled suede fabric provide a touch of class to the otherwise cruelty-free interior.

Seating Arrangement Inside
Lincoln’s Model L100 Concept forgoes a conventional steering wheel in favor of a jewel-inspired chess piece controller mounted in the center console chessboard. The cabin may be set out in a variety of ways, some of which are focused on the driver and others on fostering interaction amongst passengers. It is possible to face the backseat passengers from the front seats by flipping them forward.

Lincoln’s Model L100 Concept is a vision of the future of transportation, including autonomy, an intelligent driving experience, connectivity, and software-driven innovation. By seeing the car as a whole, new battery technology allows for seamless structural integration in the Model L100 Concept. This method enables Lincoln’s designers to create a futuristic Lincoln experience with an attractive exterior and spacious inside.

Liberation of the Arts
Ford’s chief design officer, Anthony Lo, said that the company gives its designers greater leeway than ever before so that they may “reimagine and show how new experiences can be brought to life with the support of modern technology” in the company’s concept cars. Lo was excited about the Model L100 because it allowed the company to “push the limits in ways that extend our Quiet Flight brand DNA and transform the way we think about Lincoln designs of the future.”
