The 2023 GMC Canyon AT4X

The third generation of GMC’s capable pickup truck will debut in the 2023 Canyon. For 2023, GMC completely redesigned the Canyon and included a number of exciting new features. The brand-new AT4X variant is designed specifically for use in off-road environments. If you’re in the market for a new truck, go no further than this first-ever GMC Canyon built with off-roading in mind.

The 2023 GMC Canyon AT4X is not only stylish, tough, and handsome, but it also comes equipped with some serious off-roading tech that has us salivating. GMC’s description of the 2018 Canyon as a “premium, no-compromises, off-road midsize truck” rings true when taking into account the completeness of the vehicle. Despite its similarity to the Chevrolet Colorado, the 2023 Canyon is a vast improvement.

Initially, we had our doubts about GMC getting it right on every front, but now that we know this bad boy better, we can confidently say that it lives up to our every anticipation. The cabin of the 2023 Canyon AT4X is pretty comfortable and elegant, and it is equipped with many of useful technological amenities in addition to the amazing off-roading layout.

When the 2023 GMC Canyon AT4X debuts, it will compete with similarly capable vehicles such as the Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro and the Ford Ranger Raptor.

Finally, a GMC Canyon has been released that takes off-roading seriously, and it comes equipped with some of the best off-roading technology ever seen in a mass-produced vehicle. The front and rear tire tracks of the all-new GMC Canyon platform are much larger than those of the outgoing version.

The AT4X also has a 3-inch lift kit already installed. Standard on its “upgraded” 17-inch off-road wheels are 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires. To complement this set up, standard front and rear electronic lockers are used, as well as Multimatic DSSV (Dynamic Suspension Spool Valve) shocks.

The sum of these parts is the Canyon AT4X’s outstanding 10.7-inch ground clearance. This equates to an approach angle of 36.9 degrees, a departure angle of 25 degrees, and a breakover angle of 24.5 degrees. To sum up, the 2023 Canyon AT4X can scale the steepest of mountains with ease.

Also, GMC has equipped this bad boy with skid plates to prevent damage, and there are ten different cameras available, some of which show the underneath of the vehicle, so you can see what you’re doing on those treacherous backcountry trails. In addition to the four regular drive modes, GMC has included an unique Baja driving mode that is tailored for off-road use in the Canyon.

Only a four-door crew cab version of the 2019 GMC Canyon AT4X will be available (for now). Compared to the previous generation’s model, which was bulky and uninspired, the external design language has undergone a radical transformation. The shape is sleek, yet it still has all the muscles that give it the strength to carry out its functions.

The addition of LED lights throughout adds to the vehicle’s luxurious and athletic vibe. That huge, “GMC”-emblazoned grille up front is still here. The 2023 GMC Canyon will be available in a small number of exclusive Edition1 trim levels.

A new off-road front bumper with a beefy safari bar, a 30-inch off-road grille light bar, 17-inch Beadlock wheels, aggressive new front skid plates, a winch system by COMEUP, and a unique “Edition 1” tailgate badge are all part of this package, which can be added to the already stylish exterior of the AT4X. The 2023 GMC Canyon AT4X, with or without the Edition 1 package, is already a formidable vehicle that will command attention everywhere it goes.

Manufacturers often place less emphasis on comfort and more on the vehicles’ capabilities when designing them for off-road use. The interior of the 2023 Canyon AT4X, however, is spacious, luxurious, and comfortable, with plenty of cutting-edge amenities to help it compete with similarly priced vehicles.

The seats and trim are upholstered in an unique Obsidian Rush leather that is complemented with Ceramic White accents. Adding a dash of sportiness, the interior has a desired splash of crimson throughout.

An 11-inch digital instrument cluster and an 11.3-inch touchscreen entertainment system are only two of the many useful technological features. Connectivity options such as Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are included, along with a Bose seven-speaker sound system.

Two rows of tactile buttons for the temperature control system are neatly arranged underneath the infotainment system, which is a nice touch. A HUD is included into the AT4X as standard equipment. The GMC AT4X has been outfitted with all-weather floor mats in addition to its other modern conveniences.
