If you’re a young petrolhead, here are the top 10 new cars to consider.

Subcompact cars are going the way of the dodo. Teens and inexperienced drivers used to gravitate for them, but now even the tiniest vehicles are often classified as compacts.

10 Best First Cars On The New Car Market For Teenage Gearheads

Demand for compact automobiles has almost dried up as consumers have realized that larger vehicles are both more practical and more cheap. That is not to say there aren’t any alternatives, however; just the contrary. Some of the best new tiny vehicles available are ideal for young drivers who are just starting to get experience behind the wheel.

The used automobile market is a natural starting point, but if you insist on purchasing new, here are the 10 greatest choices for young gearheads.

1. Honda Civic.
The unassuming Civic has gained a considerable audience over the years, and the newest model is often considered to be among Honda’s finest automobiles.

There is no manual gearbox available unless you go for the more expensive Si version (pictured above).

2. Subaru Impreza
Even though it isn’t aiming to replace the WRX, the Impreza offers a lot of fun for the money.

Being the only all-wheel-drive vehicle in its price level, it stands out from the crowd. Additionally, the flat-4 engine provides enough power. The fact that you can also have it with a manual gearbox is a nice bonus.

3. Soul Kia
The Soul, like the Impreza, is a stylish compact car that can be had for pennies on the dollar.

Although its unconventional appearance may divide opinion, there is definitely a market for this little automobile. Its boxy shape recalls an enlarged kei car.

4. Ford Maverick
We can’t think of a better car than the new Maverick for young people who are into dirt biking or other extreme activities. It makes sense for folks who aren’t looking for a pickup truck, but is just as functional as the bigger pickup trucks.

The issue with the Maverick is that everyone appears to want one, thus there is a large waiting list.

5. Toyota Corolla
In spite of the fact that this isn’t everyone’s idea of a good time, it’s possible to have a good time here if you get the cheapest manual possible and ignore all other factors.

Its specifications will not win any awards, but many auto enthusiasts like the opportunity to put their own stamp on a vehicle, and this one is essentially a blank slate. In no circumstances should you choose for the CVT variant.

6. Mazda’s CX-30
Mazda has gone from strength to strength in the last decade or so since it severed ties with Ford, and the CX-30 is just the latest in a long line of excellent compact cars they’ve produced.

Their Skyactiv engines are nimble, cutting-edge, and productive. Also, they are remarkably resistant to projectiles. There is no manual mode available.

7. Mk4 Jetta (from Volkswagen)
In recent years, the Volkswagen brand has become synonymous with the negative connotation of the word “diesel,” and their gas engines have also been the subject of numerous recalls.

However, when compared to its rivals, the Jetta offers more interior space and is a ton of fun to operate. It is more cost-effective, too, particularly if you choose for the basic model, which is reasonably priced and comes equipped with a responsive 6-speed manual transmission.

8. Cooper S E Mini
Most people dislike the Mini because it is a little vehicle with luxury car maintenance expenses, yet this is an issue that is solved by the EV model.

When compared to other compact automobiles on the market, its chassis is head and shoulders above the competition. The ordinary range is to blame for the comparatively low prices, so you can only enjoy the great handling for limited periods of time.

8. Mazda 3
These vehicles may be a little behind the times in terms of innovation, but they are still excellent choices for families due to their high levels of safety and superior build quality.

The Mazda 3 has excellent driver involvement, like the CX-30, and improved weight distribution makes it quicker through turns.

9. Golf (by Volkswagen)
The Golf incorporates all the high points of the aforementioned Jetta into a more solid frame. It has a harder ride, but the increased control is worth it to most people.

You’ll have to pay a little more in maintenance fees than with the competition, but that’s the price to pay for this degree of sophistication.
